Funny Hero Inside Us All Meme

Wouldn't it be great if superheroes could text? Naturally, some of them do it all the time, but what if every hero (and villain) from a given universe could text any hero (and villain) no matter where they were in the universe? With the luxury of communicating screen to screen, they'd be free to speak their minds without worrying that the argument could quickly become physical. With the ability to communicate with anyone from anywhere in the universe, teams spread across the galaxies could stay up to date in important person, local, and cosmic events. Communication like that could be powerful. On the flip side, it could also be hilarious.

We haven't seen a lot of IMs or texts in the MCU (maybe Cap doesn't like texting?), but that hasn't stopped Marvel fans from creating private and group texts for some of our favorite heroes and villains. These hysterical conversations cover everything from characters pointing out plot holes and strange observations to voicing fan theories and what if scenarios. Superhero texts are as abundant on the internet as vibranium is in Wakanda, but we've found an amazing assortment of them to get you started. Here are 20 of the greatest MCU superhero texts to brighten up your day.

20 WEIRD POWERS

Superhero Texts - Captain America and The Scarlet Witch - Weird Powers

What exactly can the Scarlet Witch do? When Wanda Maximoff appeared in Age of Ultron, she was still getting the hang of her powers. For the most part, she only exhibited telepathic and telekinetic powers. Maria Hill labeled these powers as "mental telepathy," but quickly simplified it to "she's weird" when she explained it to Captain America. As the leader of the Avengers, Cap would certainly want a more thorough understanding of what "weird" was supposed to mean in terms of powers. As it turns out though, there aren't many words that could better describe the Scarlet Witch's powers.

The technical term would be "probability-altering hex power," although weird sums it up pretty nicely. With her impressive display during Infinity War, it looks like Wanda will soon have the ability to mend reality on a whim, much like she does in the comics. With power like that, Wanda can easily alter the entirety of the universe. Of course, the flip side of a power that alters probability is that weird things can happen, like accidentally creating a talking vortex that messes with reality. Definitely not the kind of power to haphazardly test. Poor Cap will probably never ask for that again.

19 MORE COMPLICATED UNIVERSE

MCU Superhero Texts - Captain America and Spider-Man - More Complicated Universe

Until now, we've always thought Sony and the MCU were two separate Marvel universes. If what Cap says here is true though, we've actually had it wrong this whole time, not to mention the wrong acronym for MCU. As it turns out, Sony is just a term for the streets of New York, where quite a few superheroes start out. Once they graduate to cosmic, international, and interdimensional threats, they become part of the MCU, or the More Complicated Universe. So when Spider-Man moved to the MCU, he must have been eager to take on some serious enemies.

Of course, Spider-Man's first job didn't involve Galactus, Thanos, or any supervillains at all (not any that he had to deal with, anyway). The wall-crawler joined the MCU because Iron Man recruited him duringCivil War. Civil War was essentially just an argument between Captain America and Iron Man that got way out of hand. So Spider-Man finally graduates to the big leagues, meets the Avengers, and travels across the world without telling Aunt May so he can... settle an argument? Probably not the big break he was expecting, although he certainly had his fair share of cosmic threats in Infinity War.

18 ORIGIN STORY

MCU Superhero Texts - Spider-Man and the Avengers - Origin Story

At this point in the MCU, most of the Avengers have well-established origins. Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Thor all had their origins explained in their solo movies. Age of Ultron provided a backstory for Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver. We pieced the important details from Black Widow's life from the first two Avengers movies, and we'll know even more when her solo movie comes out in 2020. That only leaves us with two Avengers whose backstories were sort of glossed over: Spider-Man and Hawkeye.

As Cap and Tony are quick to point out here, we really don't need another Spider-Man origin story. Spidey's one of the most beloved Marvel characters of all time, but we're on our third cinematic Spider-Man right now, so there's no need to rehash the same spider-bite accident yet again. We just want to see the webhead make his quips with the rest of the Avengers. And Hawkeye? Well, we haven't seen too much of his past, but we can guess the gist of it. He studied archery, met his wife, joined S.H.I.E.L.D., and helped the Black Widow defect. Sure, a few more details would be nice, but we've got the general idea. Even Spider-Man guessed the general idea.

17 SECRET FARM LEAGUE

First off, we'd like to thank Captain America for being a responsible superhero and making sure Spider-Man's family is safe. Iron Man kept Aunt May in the dark about Peter Parker's work with the Avengers, so it's good to know at least one of the Avengers is thinking things through. And second, this is quite possibly the best explanation for Hawkeye's absence in Infinity War to date. Supposedly, Clint Barton is under house arrest after the government put pressure on his family. However, wouldn't it make more sense that he's just using the opportunity to quit the superhero game and spend time with the rest of his family? With not one but two secret farms to attend to, it's no wonder we've seen so little of Hawkeye recently.

Are we surprised that Hawkeye has parents? No, not considering how well he hid the rest of his family before Age of Ultron. However, we have about a million questions about this secret farm league. Just how many farms are part of this venture? Clint had a brother named Barney in the comics -- is he hiding on his own secret farm as well? Is it like a family only thing, or are there others? What are the benefits of a farm league?

16 ORPHANS

MCU Superhero Texts - Avengers - Orphans

It's amazing how much more courage people have when they don't have to say something face to face. Would Iron Man have said that to Bucky's face? Absolutely, it's happened before. But in the safety of a group text, he can say it without having to deal with physical consequences. The last time Iron Man and Bucky talked about their parents, the conversation ended with a skirmish that cost Bucky his arm, Cap his shield, and Iron Man his current suit of armor. This time, instead of trading blows, they can just trade insults (and Iron Man totally deserved his).

Meanwhile, poor Thor is just trying to get a little support from his friends now that his dad died, and everyone else is too busy trading insults and freaking out the pretty much every Avenger is an orphan. Seriously, being an Avenger is basically like being a Disney Princess. If your parents aren't dead when you join it is only a matter of time. At any rate, the only Avenger who's even trying to help Thor is a total stranger. Maybe the Avengers should use their group chat to help introduce their newest members? There'd be fewer surprises when they all assembled that way.

15 NOT INTIMIDATING...YET

MCU Superhero Texts - Ultron and Thanos - Not Intimidating

It's crazy to think how much Thanos changed when we saw him in Infinity War. Up until that point, the Mad Titan's track record didn't appear to warrant the hype that built up around him. For starters, he really was a terrible judge of character. He gave the only Infinity Stone he possessed to a trickster literally called the god of mischief, and Loki not only failed to give him the Space Stone but also lost the Mind Stone as well. Then, Thanos sent Ronan, a power-hungry Kree, to retrieve the Power Stone. Thanos had no way to stop Ronan from using the Power Stone for his own gain, so the Mad Titan lost that one as well (not to mention, two of his "children" betrayed him).

Finally, even after declaring that he would go after the Stones personally, Thanos sat on the sidelines for about three years before he made a move. It's not surprising that Ultron, along with quite a few others, would wonder what all the fuss was about. It was only after Infinity War played out that we saw just how much of a threat Thanos had been these past ten years. Now, of course, we know Thanos lived up to all of the hype. Too bad we don't have a follow-up text from Ultron and Thanos about how wrong they were.

14 INSTANT KILL MODE

Instant Kill Mode first popped up in Spider-Man: Homecoming, when Spider-Man first unlocked the full power of his new suit. We sadly didn't see exactly what the mode could accomplish with just one shot, but Tony Stark designed it, so we assume it was impressive. Spidey wasn't too keen on using Instant Kill Mode when it activated as part of his suits Enhanced Combat Mode and he quickly deactivated it as soon as he learned that it existed. To be fair though, Spidey wasn't supposed to know about it until Iron Man removed the training wheels protocol, which Spidey bypassed.

Why on earth does a Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man need an instant kill mode? He really doesn't, unless he's fighting someone like Thanos. While Spider-Man dawned a new suit for Infinity War, the updated suit would naturally have the same mode, if not a more impressive version of it. The real question then is why would Spider-Man disabled instant kill mode on his new suit? He didn't even get the armor until he fell from a spaceship, and that seems like a terrible time to disable a feature. He must really want to live up to the whole great responsibility thing.

13 EXPECTATIONS

MCU Superhero Texts - Ant-Man and Thor - Expectations

With the kind of company he keeps, we can't really blame Thor for hoping that Ant-Man is an ant the size of a man (that can also text, apparently). As far as family, he had a brother who could turn himself into a snake. As far as friends, Thor personally knows both a super-soldier and a gamma monster, so it's not like a giant ant would be a strange addition to the team. The thunder god also spent most of his time in Infinity War bonding with Rocket, who is basically a giant talking raccoon with a gun (and Thor actually called him a raccoon here and not a rabbit - good job, Thor). So what is Thor supposed to think when he learns that there's a new Avenger called Ant-Man?

Ant-Man is probably just thrilled that the King of Asgard is texting him, and he seems to agree that hanging out with a space raccoon will distort your superhero expectations. After this incident though, we have to wonder what Thor thinks Spider-Man is if he thought that Ant-Man was a giant ant. Does he think Spidey is actually a giant Spider? He is going to be very disappointed if Spider-Man comes back at any point in Avengers 4.

12 HOW DOES IT END?

MCU Superhero Texts - Deadpool and Cable - How does Avengers 4 End?

We have to hand it to Deadpool, for such a small screen, he really managed to fit his jokes in there. Like the rest of us, the Merc with a Mouth is desperate to know what happens in Avengers 4. However, as a fourth-wall-breaking character on texting terms with Cable, Wade Wilson has a better shot at a finding out the Avenger's fate before the movie's release. At least, he thinks he does. Josh Brolin might play both Thanos in the MCU and Cable in the X-Men universe, but Cable is completely oblivious to any events involving Thanos and the Avengers.

Of course, that won't stop Deadpool from trying. He is determined to learn what fate lies in the store for Thanos, Cap, and the rest of the MCU. He'll do whatever it takes to find out what happens, even if it means he has to threaten to ban Cable from his franchise and remind him that MCU villains usually end up dead. Talk about maximum effort. Granted, his threats might not have as much weight when the Disney's deal with Fox goes through, but we'd still like to think there's a place for Deadpool and Cable in the post-buyout world.

11 WE NEED THAT GUY'S ARM

MCU Superhero Texts - Captain America, Winter Soldier, and Rocket Raccoon - We Need that Arm

Since his first appearance in the MCU, Rocket Racoon has had a deep fascination with prosthetics. A leg from a prisoner in the Kyln, an eye from one of the Ravagers, another guy who lost a bet, the raccoon really isn't picky. Long before our favorite trash panda met up with the Avengers, fans speculated that an encounter with Rocket and the Winter Soldier would end with Rocket trying to take Bucky's arm. Normally, Rocket usually insists that the prosthetic in question is part of some ingenious plan like escaping from a maximum security prison or stopping a planet-wide massacre. Giving his track record, this is exactly the kind of stunt Rocket would pull for a chance to get his hands on a metal arm.

As we saw in Infinity War, Rocket naturally made an attempt to get Bucky's arm. Surprisingly, he offered to buy it from the soldier instead of incorporating the limb into one of his grand schemes. After Bucky refused though, Rocket muttered under his breath that he would still find a way to get the arm. Hopefully, the Winter Soldier will return from the dust in Avengers 4, and Rocket will have another chance at that vibranium and gold arm.

10 CAP ON TINDER

MCU Superhero Texts - Captain America and Iron Man - Cap on Tinder

Remember when Black Widow kept trying to set Captain America up in Winter Soldier? According to this amazing conversation, she wasn't the only one trying to help the Avenger's leader get a date. Iron Man would naturally have turned to technology for a solution, and what better place to start than Tinder? Of course, practically everyone would have swiped right for Steve Rogers (even Pepper, apparently), and even Tinder can only withstand so much traffic. If this is true, the MCU doesn't actually have Tinder anymore, although thanks to Iron Man, it has the superhero equivalent, POWder.

Unsurprisingly, most of Captain America's responses are from Coulson (not from Bucky though, so this must have been before the Winter Soldier came out). Still, for a small community of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, superhumans, villains, and space raccoons, not a bad showing. So far, we haven't seen anything like POWder appear in the MCU. With the growing number of superheroes and Inhumans though, it's really only a matter of time before Tony Stark or some other tech genius decides to capitalize on the superhero market segment. Besides, if Tinder really is gone, they will need something to take its place.

9 EVIL SIBLINGS ISSUES

MCU Superhero Texts - Star-Lord, Thor, and Gamora - Evil Siblings

Being a superhero is basically asking for family problems. Pretty much every Avenger is an orphan, and if a superhero has a brother or sister, the sibling is almost definitely going to be evil. So far in the MCU, the only superhero sibling who hasn't been evil at one point or another is Shuri, and unless Hawkeye has a brother or sister hidden away on a secret farm somewhere, we're not likely to find anymore. Gamora's sibling situation is just a little different though, as her sister is not only adopted but also working for Thanos. None of the Guardians of the Galaxy can quite relate to that particular situation, although Thor would certainly be able to relate.

Loki and Nebula played similar roles in Gamora and Thor lives. They were both adopted and always felt overshadowed by their brother or sister. They were both evil and worked for Thanos but changed when they realized their sibling still cared for them and would accept them. And even after they reformed to some extent, there was this nagging feeling that they would betray everyone as soon as it suited their purpose. Thor and Gamora have quite a bit in common when it comes to family. It's no wonder Star-Lord felt threatened when he met Thor duringInfinity War.

8 FEELINGS

MCU Superhero Texts - Captain America, Iron Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy - Iron Man is Jealous

By the time Thanos invaded earth, Captain America and Iron Man weren't on speaking terms. The entire universe was in peril and Tony still didn't want to give Steve a call for help. At first, it was a difference in ideology; Cap and Iron Man rarely saw eye to eye, and we could see them polarizing all the way back in Age of Ultron. The nail in the coffin was at the end of Civil War though, when Steve defended Bucky after Tony learned Bucky had killed his parents. At least, that was what Iron Man wanted us to think. According to Mantis, the real reason Iron Man won't reconcile is that he is jealous.

Not only is Steve more attractive and better liked than Tony (in Tony's opinion, at least), but Cap chose Bucky over him! Granted, Iron Man isn't an easy person to get along with, but at least he's never been a brainwashed Hydra agent. If this is the real reason Iron doesn't want to bury the hatchet, he will probably hold his grudge for a while. At least he and Steve can both agree that the Guardians of the Galaxy are one of weirdest superteams ever.

7 A MIGHTY LOL

MCU Superhero Texts - Thor and Loki - A Mighty LOL

This one dates all the way back to the first Avengers flick, but we just had to give Thor credit for his prank. Granted, giving his brother a book about how the Avengers stopped his invasion isn't the greatest prank in all the Nine Realms that ever was, but it was still downright savage. And considering that pranks aren't his normal MO, it was certainly an attempt worth of "a mighty LOL." The only other prank we've seen Thor pull off is "get help," and that one only works if Loki helps him.

Normally, the god of mischief is the one with the elaborate pranks. As mentioned here, Loki's schemes included feats such as invading Earth with an alien army, sending putting Odin in the eternal Odin Sleep, and manipulating Odin and Thor until the Allfather banished Thor to Earth. And those were only a few he had done recently. Loki didn't even mention his childhood shenanigans. At the very least, we know Loki turned into a snake to so he could stab Thor. And let's not forget all those times the god of mischief cast an illusion of himself to trick Thor. And those are just the ones we know about.

6 COULSON IS COOL

MCU Superhero Texts - Iron Man and Agent Coulson - Coulson is cooler than Iron Man

Phil Coulson's death was the catalyst for forming the Avengers. His passing marked a turning point for the group, and it gave them someone to actually Avenge. After Fury revived Coulson with Project T.A.H.I.T.I., Coulson initially steered clear of the Avengers to ensure that the event didn't lose its significance. Even after such secrecy wasn't necessary, Coulson never attempted to reach out to the Avengers, although we can't really blame him. During his time on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Coulson has had his hands full dealing with some of the MCU's weirdest story arcs.

With five seasons of content under his belt, Coulson has had ample opportunity for weird adventures. There was that time he traveled to the future to stop the world from being ripped apart, and the time he escaped the Framework and stopped an evil LMD from taking over the world. Then, of course, there was the run-in with Ghost-Rider, not to mention all his dealings with the Inhumans. Coulson's done some of the coolest and strangest things in the MCU, and he has the robot hand and Kree blood to prove it. Even Iron Man is impressed!

5 LOKI'S KIDS

MCU Superhero Texts - Thor and Hulk - Loki's Kids

When your life story is based on a mix of comic books and Norse mythology, there's bound to be some weird stuff in there somewhere. The House of Odin certainly isn't what you'd call the average Asgardian family. Loki was adopted, and he occasionally turned into a snake so he could stab his brother. Thor was banished to another world for misbehaving. Hela was trapped in Hel for thousands of years because she wanted to take over the universe. At this point, nothing should really surprise us about Thor and Loki's family. Unless, of course, Loki has a kid, or, a bunch of kids that are actually animals.

While Fenris was not introduced as Loki's child in the MCU, Hela's evil pet wolf is also Loki's biological son in the comics. And if that isn't weird enough, Fenris isn't the only animal in Loki's family. In addition to his wolf child, Loki also had a magical, eight-legged horse named Sleipnir, and a giant serpent named Jormungand, more commonly known as the Midgard Serpent. And those are just a few of his non-humanoid children -- the god of mischief also had his fair of (mostly) normal children as well. That must have made family reunion interesting.

4 NOBODY'S PERFECT

MCU Texts from Superheroes - Captain America and Iron Man - Nobody's Perfect

Seriously, what did Iron Man expect Cap to say to that? There's a best friend in the MCU who stood by Cap when he had nothing, and it wasn't Tony. There's a guy Cap would sacrifice his job, his reputation, and even his other friendships for, and it's not Tony. The MCU has a set of best friends in the who are committed to each other to a fault, and it's not between Cap and Tony. Tony hasn't been an ideal friend to Steve as of late. Actually, Iron Man hasn't been the greatest friend to any of the Avengers for quite a while.

Back in Age of Ultron, Iron Man ignored Bruce Banner's advice about building Ultron and kept his work secret from the rest of the team. When the government tried to reign the Avengers in during Civil War, Tony insisted they needed to be kept in check, when in reality, he was the only one who needed more accountability. And when half of the Avengers sided with Captain America, Tony helped hunt down and imprison the renegade heroes in the raft. Yikes. Sure, nobody's perfect, Tony, but if that' what you're banking on, pulling the friend card isn't the best move.

3 SPIDERMAN.COM

MCU Superhero Texts - Spider-Man and Iron Man - Spiderman.com

Choosing a superhero name is no easy task. Not only must the name accurately describe the hero, but it also has to be easy to remember without being stupid. Of course, in today's world, the greatest challenge is that the name can't be taken by anyone else. It's not uncommon for a hero (or a villain, for that matter) to fight over a title. Among others, both Power Man and Thor have fought for the rights to their names. When the coveted name belongs to a civilian, though, there's not much that a skirmish can accomplish.

Peter Parker apparently had this problem when he decided to take the name Spiderman. Before he could reserve Spiderman.com, an arachnologist bought the name for a website about actual spiders. Hence, Spider-Man was born. While not ideal, at least the name wasn't taken by another superhero -- that would have gotten very confusing very fast. And if someone had to take the name, at least it went to good use. It sounds like the arachnologist made a really great website about spiders. Sadly, this fascinating resource is only available inside the Marvel Multiverse. We tried, and Spiderman.com just redirects to Marvel.com here.

MCU Superhero Texts - Black Panther and Ross - Sacred Metal

The Wakandans love their vibranium, and they are usually pretty vigilant when it comes to protecting it. Up until the events of Black Panther, vibranium was one of Wakanda's best-kept secrets. The country managed to convince the rest of the world that there was hardly any vibranium on the planet and that its usefulness only extended to making objects like indestructible shields. In reality, vibranium was so abundant in Wakanda that it was basically a renewable resource and so versatile that it could do anything from heal critical wounds to power super suits. With so much potential for destruction, it's not surprising that the Wakandans usually keep a tight reign on it. Usually.

As fond as they are of their vibranium, their over-protectedness only lasts as long as they can keep track of their sacred metal. Rest assured, the Balck Panther and the Nation of Wakanda will not rest until that weapon-sized portion of vibranium is safe where it belongs again. It is a sacred metal and they will do whatever it takes to protect it. But that entire car made of vibranium? Yeah, that can just sit on the side of the road and chill for a little while.

1 STOP INVITING HIM

MCU Superhero Texts - Iron Man, Thor, Star-Lord, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, and War Machine - Stop Inviting this Kid

Only the best of the best should be going after Thanos. This is the fate of the entire universe we're talking about here, so experience with Infinity Stones and overwhelmingly powerful foes is key. The Avengers, of course, are ready to go. As a group, they've stopped Loki and have crossed paths with not one but two Infinity Stones. Thor also had his own adventure securing the Reality Stone. The Guardians of the Galaxy are also seasoned Infinity Stone warriors as well. They stopped Ronan the Accuser when he had the Power Stone, and since two of their team members are Thanos' daughters, they will be essential to the fight. Dr. Strange still has the Time Stone, so he's definitely important. That just leaves Spider-Man.

Spider-Man is great, but the poor kid is still way out of his league. As the MCU's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is just getting his start, his experience is limited to settling Avengers disputes, stopping the Vulture, and giving an old lady directions. And when you compare that to everyone else whose standing up to Thanos, we have to feel a little sorry for the kid. Even Iron Man finally got the memo and tried to keep him away from the Black Order when they finally attacked.
